Another Century's Episode Portable is a portable version of the Another Century's Episode series. The game combines elements of its four predecessors, with the gameplay being more reminiscent to the PlayStation 2 games. There is no plot; the game operates more like a mission simulator. Another Century's Episode is the collaboration of Banpresto, best known for their Super Robot Wars franchise, and From Software, the makers behind the Armored Core series. The game is a fast-paced action title featuring characters, mecha and story elements from nine famous Japanese anime. However, while Super Robot Wars is known for combining super robots, like Mazinger Z, and real robots, like Mobile Suit Gundam, A.C.E. exclusively focuses on real robots (later games, however, have include 1-2 Super Robot series in their casts).
From the developers of Super Robot Wars and Armored Core, this is exactly what you'd expect: an Armored Core-style 3D action game featuring robots from a plethora of different anime series.
The Special Vocal Version of A.C.E.: Another Century's Episode 2 plays just like the first release except the soundtrack has been completely changed to add vocal versions of the songs instead of the instrumental versions. Tak Kepford and Marina Carson are test pilots for a series of mecha called Arks. Following a test run of a new Ark series mecha prototype dubbed Gun Ark, the UCE base where the test was carried out is attacked by another group, attempting to steal a prototype Gundam also being tested there. During the attack, Marina is killed, Gun Ark is destroyed, and the Gundam prototype is stolen. Tak joins up with the Albion corps to help track down the stolen machine, but soon winds up involved in something much larger...
