Meet a new state of the famous thrilling first person shooter - PARANOIA is released now as a stand-alone game. This release is a pretty simple port of original PARANOIA mod v1.2 for Half-Life to Xash3D Engine. It allows you to play PARANOIA as a standalone game right after installing. All required resources are provided with the game, Half-Life or even Steam are not needed.
Paranoia (or Half-Life: Paranoia) — A single-player total conversion mod for the Half-Life game, was released on December 3, 2007 by a group of Russian enthusiasts. It has been released for both PC and the Sega Dreamcast (keep in mind this port is not official). The rendering of the modification uses OpenGL, which allowed for the use of modern visual effects such as bump mapping, reflections, detailed textures, 3D graphics, 3D skyboxes, and an improved model lighting system. The final version of the modification was released on April 9, 2008. The modification is based on the Half-Life (GoldSrc) engine and is distributed for free. After the release of version 1.1, the modification received a large number of positive reviews, and in January 2008, the ModDB portal named the Paranoia project the best single-player modification of 2007.
Paranoia 2: Savior is the standalone sequel to the Half-Life mod Paranoia, which was ported to the Xash3D engine as Paranoia: The Game. Paranoia 2: Savior takes place shortly after the first game, putting the player back in the shoes of Major Alexander Kalashnikov as he continues his descent into the abandoned KROT-1 laboratory. The deeper Alex descends, the more he learns about the experiments that took place there, discovering that the monsters within must be eradicated at any cost. Like the first game, Paranoia 2 is a horror-oriented linear first-person shooter. The player's arsenal consists solely of realistic military weapons, such as pistols, rifles, and machine guns, which can be refilled with ammo found around the environment or scavenged from enemies. First aid kits and painkillers can be used to restore lost health points, but only painkillers are light enough to be carried and saved for later. The player is also outfitted with a retractable helmet which can be used to reduce incoming damage to the head and a gas mask which is vital for traversing areas contaminated with toxic gas.
