The game mechanics of this game are similar to that of the other The Oregon Trail games. It requires careful resource management in order to successfully travel across America toward the Western frontier. They must overcome many obstacles and make many tough decisions which may result in loss for the greater good of the journey. The game begins in Independence, Missouri in 1848 where the player selects two people to form a wagon party. The game ends if both of these partners abandon the player. The Oregon Trail is a strategy video game developed by Gameloft New York and Gameloft Shanghai and published by Gameloft. It was released for Java ME-based mobile phones in 2009; a high-definition version was later released for iOS the same year. The game was then ported to DSiware, followed by a number of other mobile operating systems and devices. The game was followed by two sequels: The Oregon Trail: Gold Rush and The Oregon Trail: American Settler.
