Target Earth is a space shooting game set in the future with Earth under attack by robots. The protagonist of the game is a pilot of a mech robot which can either walk on planet surfaces or fly in space. There are two types of levels in the game. Surface levels take place on planets or moons and allow the mech to run and jump to the end of the level while fighting enemies, as in a side scrolling game. Space levels have no gravity and allow the mech to move in any direction. The mech can be equipped with a large assortment of machine guns, lasers, and grenades.

To help you there is a "trace mode" to retrace your steps and passwords to access each level, once you've earned that level. You can even design your own warehouses to stump your friends. If you can beat all 16 levels, a brand new sports car... and the girl... will be yours. Fall and you'll be yelling Shove It!

It's official website has at least two snapshots on the Wayback Machine dating from July 28th 2001 to August 1st 2001, with its first inaccessability date being August 9th 2001, which meant that the game was shelved between the August 1st and 9th timeframe. It also used to be mentioned on Wikipedia's List of video games published by Microsoft page with the earliest dated from June 15th 2011 and the latest prior to removal being being October 12th 2020. All that remains is just a scan of the manual.
