Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance is a tactical role-playing video game. The evil demon emperor Void Dark devastates numerous Netherworlds after coming to power, with the help of an army of over one million soldiers known as The Lost. Following this, the Overlords of the Netherworlds under Void Dark's rule attempt to rise up and take revenge. The game involves the player traveling across different Netherworlds in an attempt to bring the Overlords and heirs of each different world to join forces together to fight against Void Dark. The game will feature new systems not seen within prior titles in the Disgaea series. In addition, the number of characters displayable on-screen has increased to 100, compared to 10 characters on the earlier PlayStation 3 titles.

The game takes place in a rural town located on the frontier of a small kingdom. In the depths of the dense woodlands that extend over this land, it is said that there exists a “Golden Forest” where the trees produce gold. Many adventurers have sought out this huge fortune, but none have yet found it, and the area has since become completely deserted. Unsurprisingly, you'll be exploring this area with a group of adventurers, with eight classes of playable character available to choose from. Each class has different traits, usable weapons, and fighting styles, so players are able to choose a character which truly matches their play style. Those classes are Hunter, Necromancer, Shielder, Maid, Gunner, Wizard, Destroyer, and Bishop.

Disgaea: Hour of Darkness is a tactical role-playing video game and the first game in the Disgaea series. Battle gameplay takes place on a map divided into a square grid. The player controls a squad of humanoid units and monsters, which each occupy a single square of the grid and do combat with a group of enemies. Depending on the character and attack selected, the player will be able to deal damage to a specific enemy unit or a designated region of the map. Combat ends when all enemy units or all of the player's units are destroyed.
Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten is a tactical role-playing game and the fourth in the Disgaea series by Nippon Ichi Software. The game tells the story of Valvatorez, a former tyrant leading a party to rebel against the president of the Netherworld. In this demon school, a good student is one who engages in evil activities such as truancy, never showing up to class, and getting in fights with others. Disgaea 3 is a tactical RPG; most of the game involves battles on isometric maps upon which the player controls a group of characters. Maps often feature "geo blocks" with statistical effects on the battlefield, that, unlike in previous games, can be stacked or stood upon. Many objects in the environment, including these blocks, and characters themselves, can be lifted, thrown, or destroyed.

Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness is a tactical RPG in the Disgaea series. The game is a sequel to 2003's Disgaea: Hour of Darkness for the PlayStation 2, where the respective main characters of that game will again be the focus. Gameplay in Disgaea D2 remains the same as other core Disgaea games in the series. Monster Mounting is a new feature that replaces Magichange from Disgaea 3 and Disgaea 4. Characters can also build relationships with each other and their compatibility is determined by a heart scale of 1 to 5. Rhapsody, along with its sequels, are considered musical RPGs, meaning in place of FMV cutscenes, there are musical numbers, complete with vocals. The game is also known for its "overwhelming cuteness" and low level of difficulty. Although this may make the game seem geared towards a younger audience, in Japan, the game and series in general has seen much success.
