Vatman is a side-scrolling beat-em-up that was given away free with Your Sinclair Issue 46, on their covertape "Smash Tape No. 22" Your goal is to travel through the level as mild-mannered Eric Jone's alter-ego Vatman, punching tax-swindling bad guys and avoiding hitting nice old ladies, until you get to the boss at the end of the level. Power ups are available to regain health lost by getting hit by enemies.

The player controls a robot with a bat attempting to hit a ball at a circular target on the opposing wall. Alternatively the player may try to kill his opponent by hitting him with the ball or bat. The computer-controlled opposing player is trying to do the same. As the game progresses more balls are brought into play, up to a limit of four. A round is won when one player scores three goals or kills his opponent. There are 26 levels of varying difficulty. Later levels feature movable barriers and various other obstacles to complicate play.

This game was created by a reader of Your Sinclair, Arno van der Hulst, and sent in to them for inclusion on their Cover Tape. It appeared with Issue 81, dated September 1992, as part of their Magnificent 7 series of cover mounted cassettes. The idea of the game is to plonk together three or more blocks of one colour, causing them to disappear from the play area. You can't alter the orientation of the blocks, but by pressing fire you can rotate the colours. Once you've connected enough blocks to reduce the number at the right hand side of the screen to zero, you move on to the next level. The instructions in the magazine state that choosing the 'Kempston Joystick' option in the menu won't work.
