The story is set in very distant future, in a time when mankind is just recovering from decades of war fought between Earth and a terraformed Moon. Travel between the two is restricted for diplomatic purposes and confined to a single spaceport on Earth. The Sky Left Us is a sci-fi visual novel about climate crisis, classism, and how relationships shape our politics. Play as Spire Risan, an off-worlder scientist who becomes entangled in the drama of a mountain they came here to save. All the visual novel elements are there featuring full voice-acting. On-screen text can be toggled off with ability to use analogue sticks to zoom and scroll the clear background image with characters. While this game is a port of an adult visual novel for Windows with the same title released a couple of years earlier, this version has all the adult content removed and main scenario adjusted to work accordingly.

A supporting cast of other characters including classmates, teachers and your uncle also supply additional interaction and bolster the storyline. The bulk of the interaction leads up to the school festival where you and band members hope to create beautiful music together. Mika Katagiri wants her band to perform at the upcoming local festival. However, complications arise. Their keyboardist, Jun, refuses to play, and their stage has been cancelled. Refusing to give up, Mika and her band strive to find a way to play at the festival, using any means necessary.
