In 2102 C.E., a giant asteroid enters Earth's orbit, and inside is a horde of aliens led by the entity Diadora, unleashing an invasion on mankind. Hiding deep underground, the surviving rebels create three experimental robots, Sophia, Calista and Dynamis, to combat Diadora's army, the objective codenamed "Operation ExZeus". These three robots are humanity's last hope. ExZeus is an on-rails arcade shooter in a third-person perspective. The player can move in all directions while progressing forward, shooting enemies and collecting power-ups and gold. The player has the ability to lock onto enemies and fire powerful missiles at them, and also has a laser (which recharges by itself after every use) they can launch by holding down the fire button. The player can also send out nuclear bombs that destroy all of the enemies on screen, which can also be used to help with bosses. At the end of every level, the player faces a boss. Before the fight begins, a screen will display the weaknesses of that boss. Successfully defeating a boss will bring the player to the item shop, where they can buy items to power up their robot, and then proceed to the next level.

The sequel to Zone of the Enders is based around mecha combat with the player once again controlling the "Orbital Frame" Jehuty. Unlike its prequel, the game is now centered on action elements with the player not needing to protect civilians in need and instead Jehuty contains more weaponry than in the previous game. The plot is set two years after the events from Zone of the Enders and focuses on Dingo Egret, a former member from Mars' military organization BAHRAM whose leader Ridley "Nohman" Hardiman wants back with him. Nohman shoots Dingo following his rejection but the agent Ken Marinaris saves Dingo by connecting his body to Jehuty and forces to work in order to defeat BAHRAM. The game had a new director, Shuyo Murata, who producer Hideo Kojima appointed in order to provide a different experience. The team worked to cover the criticism the original Zone of the Enders received resulted in The 2nd Runner having more action elements. The game received generally favorable critical response due to the improvements it has in comparison to the previous game. Critics praised the game's graphics and gameplay elements but criticized its short length and presentation. Despite the positive critical reaction, the game suffered mediocre sales. North American & Japan got regular ZOE2, but the regular edition of ZOE2 was never released in Europe. Europe directly got the ZOE2 Special Edition.
Transformers: Cybertron Adventures features separate campaigns for the Autobots and Decepticons, but instead of being a third person shooter like War for Cybertron, this game is a rail shooter, utilizing a gameplay similar to Time Crisis series. Players must defeat a group of enemies in one area from a cover point. After all enemies are defeated, the character will move along a pre-defined path to another area, and so on. Occasionally during gameplay the character will transform into vehicle, and the player must control them to reach one point, destroying obstacles on the way. Offline co-op is also featured. The game delivers only 6 levels and a couple challenges.
