Ankh-Morpork is a city surrounded by darkness, where the cold river Ankh flows, where it always rains, and where dwarves and trolls co-exist with secret societies, religious fanatics, stupid police captains, and bar pianists. It is also where a bitterly sarcastic sharp-eyed private investigator named Lewton tries to earn a living solving bizarre cases. A mysterious woman named Carlotta hires him to find her lost lover. Wandering through the dark city and gathering evidence, Lewton has to solve the case, confront a sinister conspiracy, and once again become torn between love and despair.

Veil of Darkness is a true "real time" horror adventure game played from three screens, the 3-D overhead map, the character screen, and the full-screen map of the valley in which the game takes place. The term "real time" means that everything in the game is happening instantaneously with no breaks in game play. Portions of both the 3-D overhead screen and the character screen are displayed at one time. This prevents the need to switch from one screen to another during game play. The full-screen map of the valley is displayed whenever you wish to go from one location in the valley to another. All of the important icons and character information are displayed on the top portion of the character screen. This allows you to have the top of the character screen visible, while your character moves on the 3-D overhead map.

You play the young warlock Damiano Delstrego who tries to find a sacred stone which contains the secret of life which will be needed to thwart Luficer's plans to destroy your home city Partestrada.

You have recieved word from a messenger that the Last Dragon has been kidnapped. You hold the scroll in your hand and read that you must travel with a special companion named Hawkwind. Only with him and yourself can you save the Last Dragon from never seeing the light of day again.

After having died in a hospital you are wrongly sent to Hell. There you find out that Lucifer is faced by an attempt to usurp his reign - by none other than Adolf Hitler. In exchange for or your help to thwart Hitler's plans, Lucifer will grant you passage to Heaven...
