Mace: The Dark Age is a fighting video game released by Atari for arcade machines in 1997 and ported by Midway to the Nintendo 64 in 1997. The game is similar to Bio F.R.E.A.K.S. and the Mortal Kombat series. Like in Mortal Kombat, when a character wins both rounds, they can perform an execution move on the enemy. Methods included severing an opponent's limbs and torso (Al Rashid), beheading (The Executioner), repeated stabbing (Koyasha), impaling the opponent with a sword (Lord Deimos), breaking an opponent's back by hoisting them on top of a Viking helmet and throwing them to the ground, causing their body to explode (Ragnar), and some more far-fetched methods including pulling out an opponent's heart (Xiao Long), shrinking (Namira), transforming the opponent into a chicken (Taria), and entering an opponent's body and bursting them from inside (Dregan). Note: Heavily borrowing from the arcade game Soul Edge (1995)--first of the Souls Series. Which borrowed heavily from the framework WeaponLord (1995) laid out. Visual Concepts (developers of WeaponLord) would send builds of the game to Namco (the publisher of WeaponLord) to playtest.

An arcade fighting game spin-off of an RPG series set in a fantasized feudal Japan. Known for its similarities with early Samurai Shodown games (including random item drops and combining attack buttons for heavier attacks), it is the only game in the entire series to get a release outside of Japan. The main series is composed of three separate games within the land of 'Jipang' (a fictionalized version of feudal Japan), each of which follows a descendant of the 'Fire Clan' and supporting cast in battles against a range of often comical villains. The stories of the games, though primarily of 'fantasy' fare, also attempt to provide commentary on common misconceptions about Japanese culture by Western societies.

Originating in the arcades, Dynasty Wars is a beat-em-up set during the Three Kingdoms Era of the Chinese history, and is, more specifically, based on the Tenchi o Kurau manga adaptation of the story. The player adopts the identity of an ancient Chinese warrior, and riding on horseback has to eliminate all his opponents, mostly infantry and archers.

Crash Bash is a party game in which four people can play several mini-games as characters from the Crash Bandicoot series. The gameplay consists of 28 different mini-games and three distinct modes of play: Adventure, Battle, and Tournament. Crash Bash includes multiplayer compatibility for up to four human players with the use of the PlayStation Multitap. The games are organized from a central hub world from which spokes lead to different levels.

During the XGC (X-Genome Code) Incident one year ago, riots raged over the earth by beasts that did not show the XCG, and all over the country small earthquakes shook the land. Bloody Roar 4 is the last title in the series, and is once again a full-3D fighting game featuring the series' trademark transformation abilities. Unlike previous titles in the series, the beast gauge now acts as its own health bar; if a character's health gauge is depleted, they will automatically transform. The game features 18 playable fighters and a variety of game modes, including standard arcade, versus, time-attack, training, and survival modes. Of special mention is the career mode, in which fighting battles will earn so-called "DNA points," which can be spent on abilities and equipment to customize a character for use in other modes.

Hana no Keiji: Kumo no Kanata ni is a weapon-based versus fighting game based on the manga of the same title (created by Tetsuo Hara). There are two playable modes, in one you can follow the manga story, while in other you can fight against the computer or player two. There are eight different characters and scenarios to choose from. When following the manga story, there are different paths depending on the choice that the player makes. The most significant thing about the versus battle is that the characters can lose their weapons as much as recover them. Also, a special trick can be executed when the player has enough energy.
