Riding Star is an equestrian simulation where the player has to take care of a horse and ride it in competitions. For the riding the game is shown from a top-down view and in preparation of events the horse needs to be groomed, fed and saddled. There are three different types of events to participate in: dressage, show jumping and cross country. There is also a three-day event. In the championship mode horse and rider compete in multiple championships and the player's care of the horse influences the performance. During the maintenance part everything is controlled with the mouse. In races the horse is controlled through the arrow keys with the space bar to jump. Next to the AI opponents it is also possible to compete with up to four friends on a single computer in the multiplayer event.

Released on PC in 1994. Developed by Chris Sawyer, and coded in X86 Assembly language, it was among the first in the relatively new 'tycoon' genre of games - simulations of business empires that the player founded, grew and took full control of. Transport Tycoon saw the player running their transport empire from 1930 to 2030, with rail, road, sea and air transport available to help the player's expansion of their business. New technologies are introduced to the player at historically accurate times, and players could see first-hand how advancements changed the way their businesses were run.

Championship Riding Star (known as "Riding Star 2" in Europe) is the sequel of Riding Star, a riding simulation released by dtp Entertainment AG for Windows 95/98 and ME. Just like the original game did in 1999, the sequel puts the emphasis on a realistic portrayal of riding challenges and features the three riding classes military, dressage and horse jumping. The player can create a rider avatar and own several horses. These may be equipped with different types of accessories such as saddles, blankets and decorations. While in the stable, the player can look at each of his horses from nearby and take individual care of them: the quadrupeds can be fed, their fur can be groomed and their hooves can be cleaned. By completing tournaments in the three classes and five difficulty settings, the player can win prizes, unlock further content and improve the statistics of his horses. Each horse gains additional experience points through training and participation in tournaments. The game features a number of indoor and outdoor levels of varying difficulty, including a virtual representation of the world championship stadium in the German town of Aachen, home to the World Equestrian Games 2006. The controls are somewhat different from most games featuring horses: The reins of the horse are simulated with the mouse and the keyboard is used to control the speed.
