Painkiller: Hell & Damnation is both remake and sequel of the first-person shooter video game Painkiller, developed by The Farm 51 and published by Nordic Games.

Battle never ceases in the realm known as Hell. This time around it's a battle for the freedom of your very soul. The newest addon brings the Painkiller franchise back to its roots. Breathtaking action, thousands of monsters and exotic weapons are a solid foundation for a Painkiller game. The game also features a tactical component; while reaching your objectives in each level, you unlock Tarot Cards, which will soon prove to be very helpful. In additional to that, collecting souls of fallen enemies will temporarily transform you into a mighty demon.

Players will begin their journey as a tormented soul within the depths of hell without any memories about his past. The special ability to control people on their path, and even possess simple minded demons, gives the player the necessary measures to survive in the extreme conditions they are in. By exploring the hostile environment and interacting with the other weary souls of the hellscape, the hero will soon understand that there is only one way to escape from Hell, and it will require a meeting of the mystical Red Goddess.

The game follows FBI Special Agents Fox Mulder (voiced by David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (voiced by Gillian Anderson) as they travel to a small town in the Rocky Mountains to dig into the source of some strange and unexplained murders. Sightings of ghostly apparitions, zombies and hints of alien presence lead them on a chase for an "inhuman" killer. During the course of the story, Mulder and Scully follow leads to a remote location in Russia and then discover, and search, a mysterious half-buried alien space ship. Players can play as Mulder or Scully as they attempt to prevent alien colonization of Earth.
