An Europe-exclusive racing game based on the 1960s marionette-based sci-fi series Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons. Captain Scarlet is a 3D racing/shooter game based on the TV series Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons (1967-1968). The player takes control of Captain Scarlet who has to protect the world from the Mysterons, an alien race wanting revenge for the destruction of their base on Mars by Captain Black. In the game captain scarlet takes on missions to thwart the plans of the Mysterons. Compete in frenzied, timed races against frightening drones which you must hunt down and eliminate, and fight fast helicopters and steel-hardened tanks determined to bring about your demise. Use all the weapons in your deadly arsenal including standard guns, powerful rockets, blistering lasers, flares and mines to do your job. You'll have to take out entrenched enemy gun turrets, unlock security doors to reach new and tougher stages, explore vast subterranean environments, and avoid devious traps in an intense quest to save humankind. In TUNNEL B1 only you and your gaming skills stand in the way of certain destruction.

The objective of the game is to complete all 50 rallies without running out of fuel. There is no limit to how many vehicles a player can receive to complete a rally, as long as they have fuel. However, the destruction of the vehicle will subtract a small amount from the player's fuel tank. In the arcade, Genesis and Lynx versions, players could start the game at a higher rally, with additional opportunities to jump several levels from time to time. Players can continue their game from where they left off; however, the player has only one chance to complete the 50th and final rally. For completing the final rally the player gets one million points as a bonus. Players can get fuel in four ways: green globes, red globes, a checkpoint, and the rally point.
