Schmeiser Robo

01.06.1993
Genre: Fighting
Schmeiser Robo plays similarly to other 2D versus fighting games during its release, which the player's character fights against his or her opponent in best two-out-of-three matches in a single player tournament mode with the computer or against another human player. However, unlike most other fighting games released at the same time, the game uses an 8-way joystick and 3 buttons: one for punching, another for kicking, and the last one first introduced in the game during the modern era of fighting games, the guard button. Every character can do moving and attacking in spite of repeatedly pressing the guard button; however, they can’t block their opponents' attacks by using it. Other unique features introduced in this game are quick (or small) jumping, air-guarding, counter-attacking, guard-canceling and rush-attacking.

Two years have passed since the last King of Fighters tournament and nobody has seen Kyo Kusanagi or Iori Yagami since they defeated Orochi at the climax of the 1997 tournament, but out of the blue, new invitations are sent out to many characters, inviting them to a brand new tournament, though this competition is more of a secretive affair than the ones in '96 and '97. Unlike in previous games of the series, there are four characters per team instead of three, with the fourth serving as a "Striker", a fighter whose function is only to enter a match, attack the opponent and leave without replacing their teammates. In total, there are seven teams, each containing four characters, four Team Edit characters and a boss.

Avatar Dairansen is an arena style fighting game. Players choose the fighting style of their avatar with choices that include a kung-fu, ninja, samurai, and zombie style. Each style comes with a low and high projectile move and each character also has a dash and jump move, however performing a move will drain some energy that the move costs to do so the player can't constantly do the same move over and over until the move meter refills. The game also has destructible environments where the player can knock their opponent into a building. Players can also design their own arenas to do battle in.
