The War of the Worlds is a 1-player strategy war game for the Atari 8-bit. Based on the H.G. Wells novel, you control infantry, cavalry, and artillery units in combat against an alien invasion. Played on a terrain map, your troops can move quickly by rail. Each turn, alien cylinders or reinforcements may arrive. Maneuver your forces, engage the aliens as they emerge, and try to defeat the extraterrestrial threat before they wreck the landscape.
