Players control the character as he utilizes several American Old West weapons and items, such as a rifle, shotgun, dynamite and revolver. The player can activate the lantern inventory item to lighten dark areas, and use a shovel in specific areas to dig holes.

Western Gun, which served as an inspiration for Gun Fight in the USA (they're similar in gameplay and theme, but they're two different games), is a 1975 arcade shooter game designed by Tomohiro Nishikado, and released by Taito in Japan and Europe and by Midway Games in North America. It was the first video game to depict human-to-human combat, while the Midway version was also the first video game to use a microprocessor. Following its November 1975 release in North America, it went on to sell over 8,000 arcade cabinets in the United States. It was ported to the Bally Astrocade video game console as a built-in game in 1977 as well as several home computer platforms. The theme of the game involves two Old West cowboys armed with revolvers and squaring off in a duel. Whoever shoots the other cowboy first wins the duel. Unlike in a real-life duel, however, both cowboys get numerous opportunities to duel in order to score points (one point per successful draw).

In the year 213 B.C. the town of Syracuse in southern Sicily, was besieged by the troops of the Roman consul Marcellus. The battle lasted three years, giving Archimedes time to perfect his ingenious system for defending Syracuse. Archimedes' idea was to reflect the sun off a mirror onto the enemy ships. The sunlight reflected in this way would be concentrated enough to set fire to the Roman warships. Despite a heroic defense, the Romans won. As for Archimedes, he was so absorbed in a geometry problem when the Romans landed, that he was killed by a Roman soldier because he refused to answer his questions. Call of Duty: Devil's Brigade was a canceled third-person shooter for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC developed by Underground Development. The game was set in World War II, focusing on Italy. In the game, the D-Pad was used to direct orders to the player's squad. These commands were: Assault, Barrage, Hold the line, and Form Up. One screen also showed the player giving a squad member the order to stealth kill an enemy soldier.

Call of Duty: Vietnam is a cancelled installment of the Call of Duty series that was under development by Sledgehammer Games. It was stated to be taking place in the 1960s and 1970s, in Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos. The game was planned to be in the action/adventure genre and would've been the first third-person only Call of Duty game. After eight months of development, the game had up to 15 minutes playable, at which point Activision offered Sledgehammer the opportunity to help Infinity Ward in the development of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
