Riff Racer brings a fresh twist to music gaming. Not a rhythm game, but a challenging arcade racer where you race the song itself and score for how well you stay in Sync. Action on track is synced to the audio - players literally have to race the music to stay in time and score points. Verses, choruses and drops become checkpoints, and the environment, colours and cars are styled to the genre of music you're playing.
Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan, or simply Ouendan, is a rhythm video game developed by iNiS and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo DS handheld game console in 2005, for release only in Japan. Ouendan stars a cheer squad rhythmically cheering for various troubled people, presented in game in the style of a manga comic. In each stage, players use the DS touchscreen to tap specifically marked spots that appear in rhythm to various Japanese pop songs, scoring points for accurate timing and avoiding a poor performance which can cause the stage to end prematurely. Though never released in Western markets, it was a popular import to these regions, leading to the development of the Westernized spiritual sequel Elite Beat Agents, as well as a direct Japanese sequel Moero! Nekketsu Rhythm Damashii Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan 2.
Voez is played by touching falling notes in time with the music. Set in a fictional town named Lan Kong Town, which is modelled after Yilan in Taiwan, the story is centred around six high school students who form a band that eventually achieves international fame. Gameplay is simple, requiring players to touch vertically falling notes that have hit a bar on the bottom of the screen. Depending on the song, the number of lanes for the notes increases and they shift side to side, making the screen look as if it is dancing to the music. There are over 100 songs in the library. Three difficulty levels Easy, Hard and Special are available. Players are able to choose difficulty levels according to their skill so they may enjoy all pieces.
