Isaac Desulme ; The Basement of Mom is a dark and humorous roguelike dungeon crawler inspired by classic top-down dungeon games. You play as Isaac Desulme, a frightened child who discovers a hidden trapdoor beneath the carpet after his mother locks herself away. A minimap helps you navigate the procedurally generated floors and locate unexplored rooms, item rooms, and boss rooms. Explore three different locations, each with its own atmosphere, inhabitants, wildlife, and photography challenges. Wander freely through the Valley of Bruyère, the Forest of Kiiru, and the Beach of Stanhamn while discovering hidden corners and unique subjects. The game revolves around photography. Use your camera to frame subjects, adjust your zoom, and take pictures at the right moment. Animals react to your actions, creating special opportunities that require patience, timing, or creativity. Birds can be scared into flight, frogs can be photographed while jumping, foxes can flee when you run, owls can be awakened, and other animals have their own unique behaviors. Meet the local inhabitants and complete their photography requests. Each character asks you to capture a specific subject or moment, from a portrait of an elderly woman to a flying seagull, a sleeping cat, a threatening crab, or an entire lighthouse. Completing these requests earns stamps that can be used to unlock travel between different areas. Your photographs are stored in a personal album, allowing you to build a visual collection of your journey and revisit the moments you captured.
