Alliance of the Golden Witch is the fourth arc in Umineko no Naku Koro ni and the final arc of the original Umineko no Naku Koro ni visual novel. It introduces the character of Ange Ushiromiya and follows her quest to discover the truth of the Rokkenjima massacre. The game was bundled with the first three episodes and was the first game to hold the full Umineko no Naku Koro ni / When They Cry 3 set of games.

This story is about a young boy named Tohno Shiki who, after experiencing a traumatic accident, wakes up in the hospital with the ability to see lines and cracks in every surface and being. These lines, when traced with any sharp or blunt edge, will be permanently cut. As he is forced to see these lines everywhere, Shiki is distraught until he meets a mage girl who gives him glasses that allow him to live a normal life. Years later, after living in a relative's home, the death of his father has him summoned back to the mansion he left years ago. There he must learn to live with his younger sister and two maid girls. One day Shiki's life takes a turn for the worst when, on the way to school, he meets a blonde woman and he's overcome with the urge to kill her.

This is a story of disease and suffering; of medication and adverse effects; of thoracotomy scars and cellular poisons; of the living who cannot help but to die and of the dying who cannot help but to live; of a resting place other than "on 7F" or "at home".

The anonymous protagonist is diagnosed with lung cancer shortly after his twentieth birthday, and is admitted to hospice care at a hospital in Mito, Ibaraki. Two students living in Hinamizawa, Rika Furude, and Mion Sonozaki, rest at a bus stop on a rainy day and wait for the bus to arrive. Some employees soon join them, who are working on a project that will build a dam in Hinamizawa but result in the village's destruction. As the group makes their acquaintance, they talk about a phenomenon related to the strange deaths of dam project employees, the curse of Oyashiro-sama. Hinamizawa Teiryuujo was the prototype of what would later become Higurashi When They Cry, initially proposed as a stage play written by Ryukishi07, but it was rejected by the theater company and later repurposed for the game.

End of the Golden Witch is the fifth arc in Umineko no Naku Koro ni and the first arc of Chiru. The story primarily follows Natsuhi Ushiromiya as she attempts to cover up for the sudden death of Kinzo Ushiromiya.

Banquet of the Golden Witch is the third arc in Umineko no Naku Koro ni. The story focuses largely on Eva Ushiromiya and her relationship with both herself and her family.

Turn of the Golden Witch is the second arc in Umineko no Naku Koro ni. The arc follows Battler Ushiromiya and Beatrice as they battle over the existence of magic. Twilight of the Golden Witch is the eighth arc of the Umineko no Naku Koro ni series as well as the fourth and final arc of Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru. The story follows Ange Ushiromiya as she is pulled between the whims of two Game Masters: Battler and Bernkastel. The original release of Twilight of the Golden Witch contains the previous 3 episodes. In other words, it is effectively the full Chiru release.
