Aliens Versus Predator 2: Primal Hunt chronicles the initial breach leading up to the events in Aliens Versus Predator 2, specifically, the destruction of Research Pod 5. The story takes place across nine total mission, with three per species (Predator, Predalien, and Corporate). Each of the three playable characters is out to retrieve a mysterious artifact with the power to confuse and repel the Aliens. The marine wears armor for protection and uses an image intensifier and flares to improve visibility in dark areas. When playing as the Predator the player uses a variety of weapons from the Predator films such as wrist blades, a throwing disc, and shoulder-mounted energy weapons. The Predator is the most durable of the three player characters and can survive falls from greater heights than the human. The player can use a cloaking device to become invisible and several different modes of vision to detect enemies, including an infrared vision mode and a mode sensitive to electrical systems. As an Alien the player can explore most of the game's environments freely, even climbing across walls and ceilings. The Alien has no weapons, however, using its claws, tail, and jaws to attack enemies. The screen is distorted into a fish eye lens effect to reflect the Alien's field of view. The player can also use a form of echolocation in dark areas and can detect pheromones to discern human or Predator enemies. Kingpin: Life of Crime is a first-person shooter developed by Xatrix Entertainment (now a part of Treyarch) and published by Interplay Entertainment in June 1999. The game begins with the player character wounded and beaten up by the Kingpin's henchmen, and the story follows his thirst for revenge. Released shortly after the Columbine High School massacre, the game attracted controversy which led it to be dropped from various retailers, despite receiving moderate critical acclaim. The soundtrack for Kingpin was provided by the rap group Cypress Hill, and featured three tracks from their album IV. They were: - 16 Men Till There's No Men Left - Checkmate - Lightning Strikes Alongside the full versions of these tracks, instrumental versions with the vocals removed were used as backing tracks.
