The Dungeons of Moria, or just Moria, is a roguelike computer game inspired by J. R. R. Tolkien's novel The Lord of the Rings. The game's objective is to kill a Balrog, presumably Durin's Bane, deep within the Mines of Moria. A later port of Moria called Umoria (UNIX Moria) inspired the Angband roguelike game. This game influenced the preliminary design of Blizzard Entertainment's Diablo.

Tales of Middle Earth (previously known as Troubles of Middle Earth and commonly abreviated as ToME 2), is a single player roguelike computer game created in 1998 by Nicolas Casalini (at the time known by his username DarkGod). ToME 2 is an Angband variant, originally based on the ZAngband 2.2.9a source code, which now differs greatly from it. The game was also used as a base for many derivative games known as modules. Popular modules include FuryMod, Theme, and Annals of Ea.

A Dark Room is an open-source software role-playing text-based game originally published in mid 2013 for web browser by Doublespeak Games. Later that year it was released in the App Store for iOS devices. In 2014 a prequel entitled The Ensign, which provided more insight into the world and its characters, was released for iOS.
SLASH'EM is a variant of NetHack based on NetHack version 3.3.1. The object of the game is the same: to fetch the Amulet of Yendor from the bottom of the Gehennom and offer it to your god. Compared to vanilla NetHack, SLASH'EM contains five new roles and five new races for the player to choose from, several new special levels, several new monsters, new items and new artifacts, and other changes.
