Outlaws is a first-person shooter released by LucasArts in 1997. It uses a Wild West setting. It follows retired U.S. Marshal James Anderson, who seeks to bring justice to a gang of criminals who killed his wife and kidnapped his daughter. The game is a first-person shooter. Players control the character as he utilizes several American Old West weapons and items, such as a rifle, shotgun, dynamite and revolver. The player can activate the lantern inventory item to lighten dark areas, and use a shovel in specific areas to dig holes.

In Empire City: 1931 which is set in 1931 you are a federal agent that has to eliminate all criminal activities in New York City. You must hunt the criminals down and shoot them one by one. To locate a criminal you just have to follow the arrow on the left or right of the screen. Killing criminals is done by moving the cross hair over them. A countdown timer will start counting down if a criminal starts shooting at you. You must kill the criminal before the timer reaches zero or you'll loose a life. New bullets can be collected by shooting at the bullet boxes that regularly appear in the game as other useful objects. The criminals sometimes take hostages for protection. Rescue these hostages for additional points.

Call of Duty: Vietnam is a cancelled installment of the Call of Duty series that was under development by Sledgehammer Games. It was stated to be taking place in the 1960s and 1970s, in Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos. The game was planned to be in the action/adventure genre and would've been the first third-person only Call of Duty game. After eight months of development, the game had up to 15 minutes playable, at which point Activision offered Sledgehammer the opportunity to help Infinity Ward in the development of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Call of Duty: Devil's Brigade was a canceled third-person shooter for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC developed by Underground Development. The game was set in World War II, focusing on Italy. In the game, the D-Pad was used to direct orders to the player's squad. These commands were: Assault, Barrage, Hold the line, and Form Up. One screen also showed the player giving a squad member the order to stealth kill an enemy soldier.
