A soccer game from Konami and part of their Exciting sports series for the Famicom Disk System. Exciting Soccer is the fifth and final game in the Exciting sports series developed by Konami. It allows players to select (and rename, if they wish) a soccer team, each having their own set of strengths of weaknesses, and enter a tournament known as the Konami Cup. Exciting Soccer uses a top-down perspective with both goals on the vertical axis. This would be a perspective popularized by later soccer games such as Kick Off and Sensible Soccer. Pentarou the penguin makes a cameo during half-time shows.

The main feature of the game is the World Cup tournament itself, where the player may use either the actual groups used in the finals, or groups composed of a random selection of the included teams. Each match takes place in a recreation of the venue it was played in the actual tournament. As in the real tournament, group games do not go to extra time or a penalty shootout but knockout matches do.

Soccer League - Winner's Cup is a soccer game developed by SAS Sakata for the Famicom, and published by Data East in 1988. During game play, field scrolls horizontally across the screen. Players select one of eight international teams and attempt to win the World Cup. The teams that the player can select include: Japan, Germany, Brazil, France, South Korea, England, Argentina, and the USA. Players may choose to play solo against the computer, or compete head to head with another player. Although the game was never released outside of Japan, most of the options are written in English.

World Football 98 is a soccer game, released just before the 1998 Football World Cup. It featured Kiko Narváez, the Spanish national team striker, prominently in the Kiko World Football version. The game was also later distributed as a gift when buying Danone yogurts under the name of Danone World Football where it was an ad game, as in the break between halves advertisements are shown.

J.League 3D Stadium is an unreleased soccer game for the Virtual Boy from J-Wing. It was slated for release in Japan on March 20th, 1996, but was ultimately cancelled when the Virtual Boy was discontinued. Not much is known about the game, as the only ever mention of it was when it was announced at Space World ’95.
