The King of Fighters XIII is a fighting game in the The King of Fighters series. The game is set after the events from The King of Fighters XI and is also the conclusion of Ash Crimson's story arc, which started in The King of Fighters 2003. It follows another King of Fighters tournament secretly hosted by Those From the Distance Land, the organization behind the events from the two prior games that are trying to break the seal of the demon Orochi and take its power.
The twelfth installment of the famous fighting game series, The King of Fighters XII, is a massive reinvention of the franchise rebuilt from the ground up both technically and visually to celebrate the series' 15th anniversary. The game features a streamlined battle system and all-new high-resolution character sprites and backgrounds. Battles are the 3-vs-3 matches that KOF is known for, though the tag system from the previous game has been removed. The game features a total of 22 fighters, two of which are exclusive to the home release, and all of whom are returning combatants from previous titles. Primal Rage is a one-on-one fighting game featuring dinosaurs and giant apes as the fighters. The graphics are done with digitized stop-motion animation. Gameplay is similar to Mortal Kombat in that it is viewed from a side perspective, and features deadly finishing moves at the end of the match.
Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan Kansei is a PSP 2D fighting game released on August 30, 2012. The game is a sequel to Rurouni Kenshin Meiji Kenkaku Romantan Saisen and has similar gameplay and graphics. The creators claimed to have improved the gameplay for this game by taking complaints about the first one to heart. Just like the first game the first print contained. The game has a brand new engine and incorporates clips from the anime and all three OVAs.
The gameplay of Blood Warrior is quite similar to many of the 2D fighting games of the same era. However, Kaneko seem to have taken much of their inspiration from the Mortal Kombat franchise in terms of over the top gore and violence; however, Blood Warrior's predecessor Shogun Warriors predates Mortal Kombat in featuring blood, while Barbarian: The Ultimate Warrior predates Mortal Kombat in featuring death moves.
Dead or Alive is a 1996 arcade fighting game by Tecmo for the Sega Model 2 (2A CRX and 2B CRX) arcade hardware and the first game in their Dead or Alive franchise. It was ported to the Sega Saturn in 1997. A limited edition was also released for the Saturn which came with an art book. An enhanced port including new characters was released for PlayStation, and later backported for arcade under the title "Dead or Alive++".
