Lode Runner

This updated take on the original Lode Runner is essentially an entirely new game, but it keeps the core of Douglas Smith's original ideas intact.

Lode Runner 1 is a remake of the original NES game, with the same mechanic, bur brand new 2d graphics (not to be mistaken by Lode Runner Legacy)

A remake of the 1984 classic arcade puzzle game with the same name. You're a highly trained Galactic Commando, deep in enemy territory. Your mission: to recover a fortune in gold, stolen from the Bungeling people by their power-hungry leaders. You'll be running, jumping, and climbing heroically, solving perplexing puzzles. With your laser pistol, you'll drill passageways through stone floors and barriers. To get through this mission alive, you'll need more than fleet feet and good looks. You'll need your quick wits and brains. And more than just a little luck.

You are a BLOB (a Bio-Logically Operated Being) and are sent into the core of a planet in order to prevent dit from blowing up.

Billy has been kidnapped by aliens, so your task is to help him escape their prison and spaceship, without taking too much damage so that the aliens catch up to him and grab him back. As you proceed to the end of each level, give it your best to collect as much cheese as possible, so that you amount to a really big score, and solve all the puzzles you encounter in order to advance, since the path is not that clear. Billy's face is magnetized, so he will be able to collect cheese easier.

Once in the game, using the arrow keys you can move the 'Scanner' ship around the 'Shield Line' at the parameter of the playing area. While moving around this edge the ship is protected from the aliens by a shield indicated by a glowing circle around the ship. This shield is not infinite and care should be taken to complete each level as quickly as possible. A counter indicates the level of shield that you have: when it reaches zero then any contact with an alien is deadly whether you are on the 'Shield Line' or not. The idea of the game is to cut areas out of the screen without touching any of the aliens. This is done by pressing the SPACE key which initiates the 'Laser Cutter' and moving off the 'Shield Line' and rejoining it somewhere else. While you are in the process of drawing a line, your shield is inactive and touching an alien is fatal. Similarly, if one of the aliens touches the line then it will send a charge down the line towards you and you must quickly return to the safety of the edge before it reaches you. When you rejoin the 'Shield Line' the area that does not contain the 'Boss' alien will be filled (points are gained by trapping the other aliens) and the 'Shield Line' will be adjusted to surround the area that is left. The level is completed when a certain percentage of the total area has been filled in. This percentage starts at 80% but may increase in the later levels.
