Metajo is a tactical role-playing game. The game consists of a series of large-scale battles, with cutscenes and dialogues advancing the story. The player controls a group of meta-women, navigating them over top-down battle area. The main characters are controlled by the players, while "nameless" units follow AI routines. Individual battles are displayed on separate screens, and are calculated according to the attributes of the participants. Leveling up occurs after having accumulated a sufficient amount of experience points.
Many years ago, in imperial Japan, advances in a mysterious science called "meta-topology" have led to the unexpected prosperity of the Heian era. A special university was founded by the scientists, where researches in bio- and nano-technology were conducted. Since women dominated society during that time, they were the ones imbued with the powers of meta-topology. A series of conflicts between reactionary governments and the "meta-women", as they began calling themselves, continued thousands years into the future. Led by Mayumi Tanaka, president of the astronomy department, a group of young women tries to protect their existence using their remarkable powers.

Fumejo is a doujin SRPG where the protagonist belongs to a club at the prestigious prefectural metapology educational institutionwith a 1200-year tradition. Together with allies, they navigate chaotic battlefields involving firearms, swordsmanship, and magic, aiming to rebuild their club crushed by conspiracy. Known for its setting where girls engage in deadly battles, high playability, and well-crafted background music. Characters gain experience points through combat to acquire new skills. The game employs a multi-scenario system where outcomes vary based on strategic decisions and choices made during battles. Although criticized for modest production values, an abrupt mid-story ending, and a simplistic growth system resembling a prototype version, it featured diverse elements typical of doujinshi, such as variations in character dialogue and designs, and occasional single-image cut-ins. Notably, the game manual was integrated within the game rather than being a separate paper format. A commercialized version released as "Metajo" was released a year later with many mechanic and graphic improvements as well as story alterations such as allowing players to experience the 1200-year establishment until the end.
