NHL All-Star Hockey '98

NHL All-Star Hockey '98 is a Sega Saturn exclusive. It was commissioned by SEGA after Virgin decided not to make another incarnation of NHL Powerplay for the SAT.

Sega's second attempt at hockey for the Genesis (after Mario Lemieux Hockey) offers 26 NHL teams and 650 professional players rated in 15 categories. Team rosters and the season schedule are based on the NHL's 1994-95 season. Also noteworthy is the inclusion of broadcaster Marv Albert to provide color commentary. Other features include: one-timers, line changes, adjustable penalties, fighting, speed bursts, cross-checks, instant replay, manual or automatic goalies, and complete statistical tracking saved to battery. Game modes include: Exhibition, Full Season, New Playoffs, and New Playoffs/7 Game. All modes support two players except for the full 84 game season. Special attention was given to the animation, with players having over 1,000 frames to make them look smooth on the ice.

NHL 2K is a series of hockey games by 2K Sports for the Dreamcast, PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube, Xbox, iPhone, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and the Wii. Initially discontinued after the release of NHL 2K11 in 2010, the brand was revived on mobile devices in 2014. The games are officially licensed from the National Hockey League and NHL Players Association. While its games were released on consoles, its main competition was EA Sports' NHL video games.

NHL 2K3 is a hockey video game developed for the GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Xbox by Treyarch and published by Sega in the United States, and Atari in Europe. It features Jeremy Roenick on the cover. NHL 2K3 utilizes ESPN's presentation and was the first hockey game developed to utilize the Xbox Live online service. The rosters are from the 2002–2003 NHL season.

Sony Computer Entertainment's first foray into the world of professional ice hockey. The game was made for the 1995-1996 NHL season and the FaceOff brand continued into the 21st Century.

ESPN National Hockey Night was one of the many hockey games released back in the day. This one featured all the NHL teams for its time, but lacked an official players license. It had four game modes to choose from: Exhibition, Challenge, Playoff, and Season. The game also features both a horizontal and vertical perspective of the ice, battery backup to save progress and also featured the voice of Bill Clement for play-by-play commentary.

The Golden Brett returns to the SNES in the improved and updated BRETT HULL HOCKEY ’95. The second game in this series also features a full NHLPA license, so you’re sure to find your favorite players ready to hit the ice. Use every little trick in the book to get the job done: one-timers, fake shots, drop passes, and even dekes. There are several gameplay options to satisfy any hockey fan: Full Season, Half Season, Playoffs, All-Star Game, and Exhibition. You make all the decisions in the course of a game, whether it’s shuffling your lines, pulling the goalie, or calling the offensive strategy. Choose wisely, because each option could mean the difference between glorious victory and bitter defeat. One of the many hockey games released, this version not only let the player control Gretzky, but other major players of the time as well such as Mario Lemieux, Eric Lindros, Mark Messier among many others, 600 total. It also features the 26 NHL teams at the time as well as 6 International teams to choose from. The gameplay is similar to many other hockey games with the standard modes such as Exhibition, Season, Playoffs or even a "Just Play" option that instantly took the player to a random game. There is also a "Simulation Mode" that gives the game an authentic feel complete with penalties or an "Arcade Mode" that was more action oriented and with less rules. A battery back-up keeps extensive track of stats and has a two-player option as well.

The second part in Electronic Arts' hockey series. It features the NHLPA license (so it has real player names), but not the NHL license (so it doesn't have NHL team names). Gameplay is altered only slightly over the predecessor. Regular season and Playoff modes are available. Goalies have improved AI, there are more foul play options and the game now features detailed statistics.
