Stellar Assault SS is a Sega Saturn space combat simulator game developed and published by SIMS. An enhanced port of the titular 1995 Sega CS game Stellar Assault, it was released exclusively in Japan in February 1998. Like its predecessor, Stellar Assault SS is a "dogfight" shooter set in outer space, featuring first- and third-person viewpoints. While the core gameplay remains much the same, Stellar Assault SS is more story-driven, with support characters and voice acting. Ships and environments are also texture-mapped, while some levels take place on planets.

Shadow Squadron is a 3D space combat shooter. The player controls a space fighter in a series of battles against huge enemy ships. There are 2 different types of ships to fly, and 6 different missions. In most missions, the player has to destroy several locations on a large ship in order to blow up the whole thing. There are two ways to play the game. First, one can directly control the ship and maneuver it around the 3D polygon environments. Second, the player can let the 32X do the flying, and simply control a gun turret.

The storyline is accented by the voices of actors Patrick Stewart (Captain Jean-Luc Picard) and Michael Dorn (Lieutenant Worf). Your ship is outfitted with phaser cannons and photon torpedoes, both of which you will have to master in order to succeed in your battles with enemy crafts. Users can play from a view behind their ship or from a first-person view inside the cockpit. The game supports analog control as well as force feedback, and uses up one block of memory on the standard PlayStation Memory Card to save progress.

You can set your vehicle's looks, movements, weapons, special attacks and much more. The same goes for the enemies, music, sounds and the stages, where you can change a plethora of things to suit your needs. Once you're satisfied you can save the game to your memory card to play the finished product later. There are also three sample games included to show what you can do with the editor. The three games are very different in style and difficulty.
