Rambo III is a series of video games based on the film of the same name. Like in the film, their main plots center on former Vietnam-era Green Beret John Rambo being recalled up to duty one last time to rescue his former commander, Colonel Sam Trautman, who was captured during a covert operation mission in Soviet Union-controlled Afghanistan. The console versions are developed and published by Sega, the PC DOS version was developed by Ocean and published by Taito and Ocean developed and published the rest (Atari ST, Amiga, Spectrum, C64, Amstrad). Taito also released an arcade game based on the film.

Rambo: First Blood Part II is a top-down action/shoot-'em-up loosely based on the 1985 film of the same name.

Rambo III is a shooting game developed and published by Sega for the Sega Master System, making use of the Light Phaser peripheral. It is based upon the film Rambo III. Rambo is a side scrolling platform game where the player controls Rambo with his mission to Vietnam. The game starts at the military base before getting sent to Vietnam. In Vietnam, Rambo has to fight animals in the jungles, swamps, and caves like wasps, snakes, fish, tigers, bats, spiders, birds, apes and flamingos. Before making his way to the POW camp he has to fight guards and mercenaries that can kick and shoot him, all wearing different color shirts depending on how powerful they are. The game also requires the player to navigate a complex map requiring the player to find North and South points on the ground to go up and down levels as well as East and West by moving Rambo to the edge of the screen. There are 6 different weapons that Rambo can pick up that are knife, throwing knife, bow and arrow, bow and exploring arrow, gun, and hand grenade. All the weapons but the knife has limited ammo which is collected from killed enemies. There is also health vile that restores health as well as mission specific items that Rambo must find to complete some missions. The game uses password save that can be retrieved when talking to any person.

Rambo: The Video Game puts the player in John Rambo's combat boots, and takes them on an action packed journey through the iconic combat sequences and story-arcs of First blood, Rambo: First Blood Part II & Rambo III.

Rambo III for the arcade is a different game compared to the one released for the SEGA consoles and the computer ports. The arcade version was is a rail shooter game played from the third-person perspective whereby Rambo would have to blast through hordes of enemy soldiers, jets, tanks using various weapons with crosshairs, as well as fight tank bosses at the end of each level.

Rambo must tranverse six zones from bottom to top while defending against waves of enemies, ending with a boss at the end of the stage. Rambo is armed with a machinegun that can only shoot upwards, left and right, as well as in diagonal between the mentioned directions. He also counts with explosive arrows that are limited in quantity but can be shot in eight directions.
