The story centers around D.W., who is an aardvark, and the younger sister of Arthur. D.W. is wary of trying any new foods and would rather stick to plain spaghetti noodles or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. When her family decides to celebrate at a restaurant and she is served a spinach salad, she causes a scene and embarrasses her family. Afterwards, she is banned from going to any restaurants, until she changes her attitude. D.W. starts to worry...what about Grandma Thora’s birthday dinner? Can D.W. reconcile her misgivings and give something new a chance?

D.W. the Picky Eater is an interactive storybook and an educational game for children aged three to seven. It is based on the 1995 children's book by Marc Brown. Players follow D.W., Arthur Read the aardvark's sister, who dislikes a lot of food because it looks disgusting to her. Items she does not like include pickles, tomatoes, pineapple, spinach, salad, parsnips etc. The story is told through narration and text on the screen and meanwhile many hotspots in the environment can be clicked for a short animation. There are also several mini-games such as decorating D.W.'s playhouse along with a game, soaking gophers with the water hose, setting the table and so on.

In the main screen, the player can select a storyteller, and navigate through the pages. On each page of the story, the selected storyteller reads the page out loud. Green Eggs and Ham is the second Dr. Seuss Living Book Adaptation from Broderbund. The story features Sam-I-Am, who repeatedly asks the questions based on an object, e.g. “Would you Could you on a boat?”. This leads to his grumpy friend saying “I do not like Green Eggs an Ham”. The story gets more dramatic as it progresses. There are some activities featuring characters from the story like the Fox in a Box, and the Mouse in the House. The game features word recognition, vocabulary, reading comprehension and computer literacy. Every page is clickable for a few surprises. In Read to Me, the program automatically turns the pages leaving out the games as the story progresses.
