Kita e. ~Diamond Dust~ is a visual novel developed by RED. The story is about six different girls from different lifestyles living on Hokkaidō in Japan. They each live in a different city on the island. Each girl believes in a myth of snow turning into diamond dust, and if one makes a wish on the diamond dust, their wish is 100% guaranteed to come true. Another myth about diamond dust is that if a boy and girl meet under the dust, they're guaranteed happiness and marriage later in life. Each of the six girls have some stubborn moments and awkward stages in their lives, but looking into themselves and others will help them get back on their feet. When these six girls meet, their lives will change dramatically for the better as the snow begins to fall.

The player, a second-year high school student (17 years old), travels from Tokyo to Sapporo in Hokkaido (hence the basic title of the game Kita E - To The North). There, he encounters eight different girls, including the lead character Kotori Haruno, whose family he stays with during his time up north. In the game, the player explores the island, plays video games, does karaoke, goes shopping -- and most of all, tries to find that special someone to share his heart with.

"There’s something I need to get back. Something precious that sank into the ocean years ago." The story takes place on the World Heritage-listed Ogasawara Islands. After a four-year absence, Hiroki Mizuno returns to the island during his summer vacation to help his grandmother with her shop. The story begins as he encounters a beautiful blonde girl, Emily, on the deck of the ferry on his way to the island. Emily has run away from home. She has her mind set on retrieving “sunken treasure”. Chisa, an old friend with whom Hiroki reconnects on the island, provides some insight. “The Ghost Ship―that's what we call one of the shipwrecks around here." It’s said that the treasure Emily is after lies in a shipwreck that disappears each time there’s a storm. Emily, the beautiful blonde-haired girl. Chisa, the childhood friend with golden, suntanned skin. This summer, pass the days on a tropical island with two beautiful girls, scuba diving, and adventure! Their destination: the “Ghost Ship”. Somewhere just past where the sky meets the sea...

The game's original story, involves Kazuma discovering a cursed ring that allows him to steal the underwear of others near him. He learns the only way to undo the curse would be through raising enough money. The game's "Underwear Judgment" system revolves the player controlling Kazuma in returning lost underwear to their rightful owners.
