Metroid II: Return of Samus DX is a rumored Game Boy Color port which was never released. A screenshot was featured in the German gaming magazine "Club Nintendo" that was claimed to make use of the Game Boy Color's vast color-palette. However, the game never released and its existence has been contested by a testimony from Nintendo of America translator Dan Owsen who was unaware of plans for the port, suggesting that the screenshot featured in the magazine may be a mock-up.

Mega Man X, known as Rockman X in Japan, is the first game of the Mega Man X series. It was the first spin-off of the classic Mega Man series and made its debut on the Super Famicom/SNES, initially released in 1993. It was ported to the PC in 1995, and to Android and iOS devices in 2011. It was re-released as part of Mega Man X Collection in January 2006, then later re-released in Mega Man X Legacy Collection in July 2018. The game takes place in the year 21XX (early 22nd century), a century after the conclusion of the classic Mega Man series, and stars a new main character named X.

Mega Man III is an action-platform video game by Capcom for the Nintendo Game Boy. It is the third game in the handheld version of the Mega Man series. In 2013, Mega Man III was made available on the Virtual Console of Japan's Nintendo eShop for the Nintendo 3DS. It was later released in the North American and PAL region eShops the following year.
