Clannad follows the life of Tomoya Okazaki, a high school delinquent who meets many people in his last year at school, including five girls, and helps resolve their individual problems. The gameplay of Clannad follows a branching plot line which offers pre-determined scenarios with courses of interaction, and focuses on the appeal of the five female main characters by the player character. The game was ranked as the best-selling PC game sold in Japan for the time of its release, and charted in the national top 50 several more times afterwards.

Yahari Game Demo Ore no Seishun Love-come wa Machigatteiru. Kan features an original story with six routes based on the player’s decisions. In the game, the player can enjoy new stories centered around six heroines (Yukino Yukinoshita, Yui Yuigahama, Iroha Isshiki, Saika Totsuka, Shizuka Hiratsuka, and Saki Kawasaki), different from the stories of the anime and light novel. The direction that the story takes is up to the player.

Steins;Gate: Linear Bounded Phenogram/Phenogram of Linear Restraint (STEINS;GATE 線形拘束のフェノグラム Senkei Kousoku no Phenogram?) is a visual novel released on April 25, 2013 containing a mixture of scenarios set during and after the original visual novel's story-line, but in different world lines.

Okabe ends up in the Delta world line (>3% of divergence) after conducting numerous experiments with the D-mail. When Okabe comes to, he finds the lab members preparing for a party and that due to successive experimenting the Future Gadget Laboratory's electric bill has skyrocketed. Sprung puts players in the shoes of either Becky or Brett in a conversation-based visual novel that mostly consists of dialogue. Sprung can be regarded as a dating sim, though the linearity and variety in the game (as well as its humor) also lend it to being an adventure game. The game was one of the first dating simulation games to have a wide commercial release in North America.

Nanaboshi Kanata is a student traumatized by love whose world gets turned upside down when two girls vying for the Galactic Presidency declare that he will fall in love with them. Aliens, UFOs and even a guidebook for love? Nothing is normal and everything is weird in this comedic visual novel.
