Metro 2033 is a first-person shooter with survival horror elements, based on the Russian book of the same name by Dmitry Glukhovsky. Most of the game takes place underground, but several times Artyom will have to venture outside, into the perpetual nuclear winter. Game progression is fairly linear, though areas may be explored more thoroughly for items and ammunition. Setpieces include a few on-rails sequences, missions that involve defending a location from an onslaught of monsters, and others. A few stages can be completed in a stealthy fashion.

A third-person tactical shooter from Epic, running on the Unreal Engine 3. Gears of War thrusts gamers into a deep and harrowing story of humankind's epic battle for survival against the Locust Horde, a nightmarish race of creatures that surface from the bowels of the planet. Unlike other shooters, Gears of War is all about teamwork in a big way. All game modes, levels and scenarios are designed specifically to encourage co-operative play, whether it be with A.I. partners or human players (with A.I. teammates designed with specific strengths, weaknesses and personalities.) On top of that, voice recognition will be available for players, and obviously voice chat to discuss strategy with your friends. Rogue Warrior is a character-driven, first-person-shooter, featuring Richard Demo Dick Marcinko's explosive personality in an action-packed single player campaign, and intense multiplayer combat.

In this FPS, you travel across a remote island off the coast of Russia ripping through space and time, and are given your own Time Manipulation Device of which you use to vaporize enemies. You can upgrade your TMD, yourself, and weapons throughout the campaign which is reminiscent of every modern shooter from the Call of Duty Modern Warfare and World at War series to Half Life 2, and F.E.A.R. Time is power. Multiplayer included but is no longer filled with an active community.

Set in 2069, Syndicate takes players into a dark, Machiavellian world run without government oversight with many syndicates vying for total dominance of their local market place. Inversion is a third-person co-op shooter that combines hard-hitting, adrenaline-pumping action with a revolutionary gravity manipulation engine. Featuring the Grappler weapon, players will be able to manipulate gravity for their own purposes.

Save the world or destroy it as you take charge of several unique factions with awesome powers and spectacular units. Control massive-scale alien war machines that are fully customizable. With on-the-fly tactical customization, you can dynamically swap out weaponry, rework your tech tree, and retrain units in the middle of combat to thwart your foe and seize the advantage. This advance on the traditional rock-paper-scissors model of balance gives players even more control over how they respond and adapt to their opponent's strategies.
