3Kingdoms is a text-based adventure. In 3K, you "read" the world as you play and interact with it, using thousands of intuitive verb commands. Want to wield that sword you just found? You would enter "wield sword". Want to take a closer look at that desk in the secret room you just found? You would enter "examine desk" and then maybe follow up with "search desk" for a closer look. To help you out in the game, all you need to do is type "help" to give you access to 3K's expansive help files. Beyond that, the same files are available online right here if you ever need them.

Arx is a game set in a low to mid-fantasy world, where magic is more legend and superstition than daily reality. The game itself is set in the capital city of the Compact, an alliance of the five Great Houses who hold sway over the continent of Arvum. The lands of Arvum are wild and sparsely settled, and away from the walls and settlements of the House-ruled fortifications there is great danger and mystery. Tribes of unaligned Abandoned (or shav'arvani) roam and raid the great forests and wildlands between the settled cities, and beyond the borders of the known lands even greater mysteries lie. RP focused.

Starting development in 2005 under the codename "Rapture", FINAL FANTASY XIV ONLINE was announced in 2009 for Windows and the PlayStation 3. It ran on Square Enix's Crystal Tools middleware engine, which was adjusted to suit the game's specifications. During development, the team carried over multiple aesthetic elements from FFXI while creating something that stood on its own. Due to several factors, the development was beset by problems that would later have drastic effects on the game. Attempts to bring the game to Xbox 360 consoles fell through due to disagreements with Microsoft about the use of Xbox Live. After its alpha test and a delayed beta test, the game went live on September 30, 2010, remaining active until its servers were closed on November 11, 2012. At launch, the game received a mixed to negative reaction: while the graphics and music met with general praise, other aspects were unanimously panned, including the gameplay, interface, and the general impression of the game being unfinished at launch. Critic and fan backlash caused Square Enix to pull subscription fees, indefinitely postpone the PlayStation 3 version, and eventually develop an entirely new version of the game called FINAL FANTASY XIV ONLINE: A REALM REBORN. The poor reception has had a serious impact on the FINAL FANTASY series, with both staff and company officials saying that the brand had been damaged.

A fantasy game world of magnificent proportions unfolds before you: it is the heavy sea-town air of Mercinae, the sound of waves crashing against Parrius, great dark spires piercing the sky of Thakria. This roleplaying world, which existed before the Internet and was the first online RPG game ever, thrives because of its unique world. Great sorcerers, war that can tumble years of real life history in a day, magic that can see beyond time, rituals and vast events that raise mortals to become gods! Avalon's scope is nearly infinite and anything within its walls is possible. As a text-based RPG, it will exceed all expectations: adventurers, merchants, politicians, fighters, forest-loving druids, all cohabitate in this rich, vibrant and brutal world. Avalon is an online RPG game that has always been ahead of its time. It innovates in the most remarkable ways, inventing new mechanics that you will not see anywhere else for years. Above all else, Avalon is a fair meritocracy. You may quicken your pace but you cannot achieve excellence without deserving it and excellence in any area takes time. It is an environment unlike any other, where players decide the course of history. Find any online roleplaying game today that can match Zaphod of Avalon, who 25 years ago and still sometimes today, will be in Meeting Place sharpening his axe and preparing for battle. Players today do the same as he, building on an epic saga to write their own names into this legendary world.

The world of Entia is again at war. The forces of chaos once again seek to destroy the world itself. It is a time of fear and darkness. It is a time for those with courage, to step forward and defend their beliefs, and their very existence. BlackMUD is a Diku/Silly based MUD, although it has become something far more than either. The world of Entia is a wonderous and challenging place. It boasts over 90 original areas, made up of 35000 crafted rooms (and growing), all designed around a comprehensive world theme and history. Good role-playing is encouraged and rewarded, although not required. With a wide array of races, cities, classes and sub-classes, BlackMUD offers the player a wide world of adventure and excitement.

The Harshlands MUD is, above all else, a role-playing game world. The game should be viewed in most ways as a traditional sit-down, pencil and paper, role-playing game, and not as a video game where the object is to tally the most kills. You can become better at your chosen trade, buy/sell, travel, fight, get a job and the scope is pretty much endless.
