Suikoden is a Japanese-style role-playing game with several unusual additions. There are three kinds of combat in the game, the most common one being the traditional turn-based party combat (players can have up to six people in their active party). Magic runes can be equipped on the player's characters which allow limited usage of offensive and healing spells. Kuroi Hitomi no Noah: Cielgris Fantasm plays mostly like traditional Japanese-style RPGs such as Breath of Fire: the protagonist travels on the map and interacts with various people, and in her travels, also encounters monsters that she must fight. The encounters are typical turn-based battles in which the player assigns actions to be performed by the party members. However, Noah has the ability to befriend monsters and can recruit them when they have been weakened. They can then be summoned in battle to fight alongside the party members. At the end of battle, the participating members and monsters gain experience points to increase their level.

Spectral Tower II is the second game in the RPG series released by Idea Factory for the PlayStation One console, the game begins with an intro in which the adventurer arrive to a town and after that he will meet another adventurer that will take him to the ruins of the evil tower that is located in the desert. The gameplay is in third person perspective using an overview view meanwhile the player is exploring the different floors of each tower, and also a third person perspective for the battle parts.
