007: Quantum of Solace is a James Bond video game based on the films Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. Several versions of the game were released across seven platforms, with the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, and PC versions designed as first-person shooters and the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo DS versions as third-person shooters. It is powered by the Call of Duty 4 game engine. The core gameplay in Quantum of Solace is that of a first-person shooter. Throughout the game, however, the view switches to third person to emphasize that the player is playing as James Bond. This third-person view is used with a cover system and quick time events, among other scenarios. An example is using quick-time events to chase Mollaka during a level that recreates the construction-site chase at the beginning of the Casino Royale film.

Aiming and moving in cover and blind-fire modes is tricky, though. To gain the 3-D effect, some detail gets sacrificed. Locking the enemy in your crosshairs, signified by your crosshairs turning red, doesn't guarantee a direct hit? The accuracy depends on the weapon of choice. A shotgun will normally provide a kill on the first shot. If you have an automatic rifle, your shots are relatively inaccurate even if your aim is true.

Friendly fire is always active, requiring coordination between teammates. The game features a persistent galactic war where community-wide performance determines which planets are liberated or lost.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a first-person shooter that serves as a reboot of the Modern Warfare sub-series. The game features a single-player campaign, cooperative Special Ops missions, and a multiplayer suite with cross-platform play. The campaign emphasizes tactical realism, with morally complex scenarios, civilian threat assessments, and night-vision operations.
