The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is an action-adventure game developed by Daedalic Entertainment. The game, set in the fictional world of Middle-earth created by J. R. R. Tolkien, takes place in between the events of The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring. The player controls Gollum through a series of locations, such as Cirith Ungol, Barad-dûr, and Mirkwood, as he attempts to find Bilbo Baggins and retake the One Ring whilst battling and avoiding Sauron. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum released on 25 May 2023 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. The game was a commercial failure and received negative reviews from critics. It was ranked by Metacritic as the worst game of 2023.

The game features open-world exploration, stealth, combat, and puzzle-solving. A key addition is the Batmobile, used for traversal and combat. Assassin’s Creed Unity is an action-adventure game set in Paris during the French Revolution. The player controls Arno Dorian, an Assassin who seeks to uncover the forces behind the political unrest. The game introduces new weapons, including the Phantom Blade, a modified Hidden Blade with ranged capabilities. Gameplay emphasizes stealth, parkour, and close combat, featuring updated free-running mechanics and a revised fighting system. The open-world setting recreates 18th-century Paris and includes historical events such as the storming of the Bastille and the execution of King Louis XVI. Unity also includes a cooperative multiplayer mode supporting up to four players.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is the sequel to Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and a prequel to the original Metal Gear. The game has a complex story with long cut-scene sequences, but there are fewer and they are shorter compared to earlier Metal Gear Solid titles. Most of the gameplay mechanics introduced in Ground Zeroes are carried over: it is still an action game and stealth oriented but replaces the linear corridor design from most earlier titles with large open world environments that offer the player unrestricted freedom for the approach. The world has now a real-time day and night cycle and various weather effects that influence enemy behaviour, visibility and sound. Sabotaging or destroying certain structures can also influence other parts of the map.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is a third-person action-adventure game in which players control Lara Croft as she searches for the legendary city of Kitezh and a promise of immortality. Combat involves firearms, stealth, and melee weapons, while semi-open hub areas offer challenge tombs with puzzles, side missions, and resource scavenging for crafting. Players earn experience and unlock skills across three trees focused on combat, hunting, and survival. The game features an Expeditions mode that allows replaying levels with modifiers in place of traditional multiplayer.
