Eight beautiful maidens are under threat of alien attack. Their lives and the fate of the world now rest in your hands. In this simple yet rewarding shoot'em up, take command of multiple ship types, each balanced for a different play style, and blast away clothing that’s been deeply infected by a deadly virus. Evade and destroy enemies as they feverishly work against you, team up in multiplayer or bravely battle alone, save the girl of your dreams and perhaps even unlock a convenient one-finger mode.

RayForce (released in western Arcades as "Gunlock") is a top-down shooter. There are seven levels to play, ranging from battles in the atmosphere of planets to battling over mountain ranges, each with their own standard huge bosses at the end of these levels. The player takes control of a starfighter called the RVA-818 X-LAY, out to destroy any opposing forces.

Castle of Shikigami is a dark, supernatural shoot-'em-up classic. Choose one of six characters and utilize their unique abilities to defeat the demons infesting modern-day Tokyo in this vertically scrolling shooting game. Use each character's shot, special Shikigami attack and bomb to conquer each stage and it's boss to ultimately discover who or what is behind "The Castle of Shikigami Incident".

Gameplay is similar to the previous Truxton. Truxton II has six huge areas, each with a boss at the end; the game "loops" these six areas forever. Lives are given out at 70000 points, then every 200000 points after; players start with three. There are power-ups to increase ship speed, add a smartbomb to your stock, and change/strengthen your current weapon: red fires bombs in a small area around your ship, similar to the red weapon from Robo Aleste; blue is a homing laser, similar to the blue weapon from the original Truxton; while green fires wide-reaching salvos of green shots and more or less replaces the red weapon from Truxton.

Ghost Pilots is a vertical-scrolling shoot 'em up arcade game released in 1991 by SNK.

Sorcer Striker, released in Japan as Mahou Daisakusen is a 1993 medieval-themed scrolling shooter arcade game developed and published by Raizing (now known as Eighting) , and later ported to the X68000 and FM-Towns computers and the EZweb mobile phones. It is the first game in the Mahou Daisakusen trilogy, which includes Kingdom Grandprix and Dimahoo.

Strato Fighter, otherwise known as Raiga: Strato Fighter, is a 1991 video arcade game developed by Tecmo. It is a horizontal side-scrolling space shooter in which two players may play simultaneously. The game sets players in the year 2135 on a mission to save the Earth from colony-based, militant alien invaders using the MB-OG Raiga (Thunder Fang). The Raiga has the ability to spin around to attack enemies from behind. Power-ups can be obtained by destroying container ships. The craft's weapons include the Shotgun, Ion launcher, Vertical, Homing Missiles and Bomb attacks along with items such as Speed Ups, Shields and Extends. The spacecraft can also obtain an Option weapon called the Auto Guard; three types of Auto Guards were available such as the target locking Beam Rifle, the powerful Solid Shooter and the standard Blaster item.

A shooting game developed and published by Toaplan, released in 1989. The Original Japanese version of what was released in the west as Fire Shark, 'Same! Same! Same!' is notable for being single-player only and having a dramatically heightened degree of difficulty compared to its western release, as well as lacking a number of glitches that came as a result of the conversion to a 2 player game.

Each one of Weka Invaders' 40 levels consists of a certain number of blocks which hide several Wekas that will eventually emerge and chase Waimanu, and even shoot at him sometimes. Waimanu should drive each Weka out of the blocks and eliminate them before the time runs out. Wekas can be eliminated by either shooting at them or by shaking them off the floor. Points are awarded for each block destroyed and for each eliminated Weka. Also, points are given for destroying the passing UFO, for powerup pickups and for each second left after completing the level. An additional life is awarded when 25,000 points are reached and you can earn one more life every additional 50,000 points after that.

Goubakuran: RumbleStorm is a vertical shoot 'em up that finds humanity on the losing end of a war against a mechanical species that suddenly appeared one day. In their desperation, they send out a lone pilot on a suicide charge against the increasingly encroaching alien armada. This pilot, named Reika, has more than the weight of humanity’s future on her shoulders. The talented engineer who developed the space vessel Reika commandeers is her lover and recently fell into enemy hands. With nothing left the lose and everything to gain, Reika’s ship is launched right past the front lines and into entirely hostile territory.
