The third entry in the Atelier "Dusk" series. Two Shallies, Shallistera and Shallotte, join together in fulfilling their goals to learn the connections behind their own problems to the Dusk. Experience two different perspectives on how each Shallie face their challenges as they uncover truths about the Dusk. This entry introduces an evolved Synthesis system from previous Atelier "Dusk" games with new features such as figuring out effective routes to "Chain Bonuses" to create the best possible item, as well as a Turn-based Battle system heavily inspired by the "Mana Khemia" series that's known for its "Burst", "Assist", and "Variable Strike" combat mechanics while adding new features such as "Field Bursts" that turn the tide of battle.
Water sources go dry. Plants wither and die. All creatures thirst and starve. The blue oceans turn to sand, and the life of the sea no longer has a place to call home. Yet still, the sun continues to shine, mercilessly drying up what little water remains in the earth. Slowly, but surely, everything fades away to nothing in this Dusk World. In the Dusk Sea that drains people's will to live lies a town of oasis located on the south. Two young alchemists, with challenges that differ between each one, move forward together as they pursue the truth behind the Dusk once they cross paths.

Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea is a Japanese role-playing video game developed by Gust. As part of the "Atelier" series of games, it is the third and final installment of the "Dusk" storyline. The game's story takes place about 10 years after the beginning of Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk and 6 years after the beginning of Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky. The player is able to choose to play as one of two characters, each with a differing storyline and adventure; regardless of which character is chosen, the flow of the game remains the same. In comparison to previous Atelier games, fields are significantly larger, and the player is able to harvest a wider variety of items and raw materials to use for mixing.

Starting development in 2005 under the codename "Rapture", FINAL FANTASY XIV ONLINE was announced in 2009 for Windows and the PlayStation 3. It ran on Square Enix's Crystal Tools middleware engine, which was adjusted to suit the game's specifications. During development, the team carried over multiple aesthetic elements from FFXI while creating something that stood on its own. Due to several factors, the development was beset by problems that would later have drastic effects on the game. Attempts to bring the game to Xbox 360 consoles fell through due to disagreements with Microsoft about the use of Xbox Live. After its alpha test and a delayed beta test, the game went live on September 30, 2010, remaining active until its servers were closed on November 11, 2012. At launch, the game received a mixed to negative reaction: while the graphics and music met with general praise, other aspects were unanimously panned, including the gameplay, interface, and the general impression of the game being unfinished at launch. Critic and fan backlash caused Square Enix to pull subscription fees, indefinitely postpone the PlayStation 3 version, and eventually develop an entirely new version of the game called FINAL FANTASY XIV ONLINE: A REALM REBORN. The poor reception has had a serious impact on the FINAL FANTASY series, with both staff and company officials saying that the brand had been damaged.
