The game puts players in the control of Scooby-Doo in a story that revolves around him searching for the rest of the gang around a haunted mansion after they're kidnapped by an eccentric villain. The game has twelve areas, ranging from graveyards and secret labs to fishing villages and haunted mazes. The game received mixed reviews from critics, mainly criticizing the game's simplicity, although its massive environments staying true to the Scooby-Doo! universe was praised by critics and fans alike. Fans of the original show loved the game, feeling it was compensation for the N64 game released in 2000. The game also marks the first and only time Don Knotts did voice work for a video game, though he did do previous voice work in the Scooby-Doo universe.[2]

It is based on the 2005 film of the same name and features characters and storylines from the movie. Players control the four main characters—Mr. Fantastic, The Invisible Woman, The Human Torch, and The Thing—each possessing unique abilities that correspond to their superhero powers. The game includes single-player and cooperative modes, allowing players to switch between characters to utilise their specific powers to solve puzzles, battle enemies, and navigate through various levels. The gameplay primarily focuses on combat and character-specific abilities to progress through the story-driven missions.

The epic story has been split up in three parts, one for each character. The game mimics the film's famous martial arts, based on the Wudan fighting style, with a set of basic attacks, attack combos and special moves, combined with defensive actions such as basic blocking, combo blocking and evasion. While fighting, the characters learn new moves, collect items and earn rewards. Skills are improved according to your fighting style. Using specific attacks (e.g. unarmed) boosts the related skills, which can be leveled up.
