Return to Castle Wolfenstein is a first-person shooter and a reboot of Wolfenstein 3D. The player's arsenal includes among others a Luger, MP 40 submachine gun, Mauser rifle with sniper scope, flamethrower, dynamite and grenades. The game also features a multiplayer component in which players are split into Axis and Allies sides with each a set of objectives to complete.

Gears of War is a third-person shooter built around a cover system, where players duck behind obstacles and use tactical fire to advance on enemies. The signature weapon is an assault rifle fitted with a chainsaw bayonet, and a timed reload mechanic can grant a brief damage bonus or jam the gun if mistimed. The five-act campaign can be played solo or in two-player co-op, and a competitive multiplayer mode supports up to eight players split between the two factions. Resident Evil 5 is the seventh video game in the Resident Evil series. The player is now dependent on his partner more than in older games. When the partner's health bar drop down to 0, he will enter the dying stage where the health bar will flash red and gradually lower as he stays like this. Resident Evil 5 also features new types of enemies called Majini and mostly are of African descent.

Half-Life is a 1998 first-person shooter (FPS) game developed by Valve Corporation and published by Sierra Studios for Windows. It was Valve's debut product and the first game in the Half-Life series. The player assumes the role of Gordon Freeman, a theoretical physicist who must escape from the Black Mesa Research Facility after it is overrun by aliens following a disastrous scientific experiment. Its gameplay consists of diverse combat, exploration and puzzles.

Max Payne 3 is a third-person shooter in which the player assumes the role of its titular character, Max Payne. A new feature to the series, introduced in Max Payne 3, is the cover system, which allows players to gain a tactical advantage, and avoid taking damage from enemies. To progress through the linear story, players take on enemies throughout levels. The game features interactive cutscenes which transition seamlessly into continuing gameplay; there are no loading screens across gameplay and cutscenes.

Call of Duty: Ghosts is a first-person shooter set in a near-future scenario where the United States has been devastated by an orbital weapons strike. The single-player campaign follows Logan Walker, a soldier fighting alongside an elite special operations unit called the Ghosts against the Federation of the Americas, a South American military superpower. Multiplayer introduces destructible map elements, new game modes such as Cranked and Blitz, and a Squads mode with AI-controlled teammates. The game also features Extinction, a four-player cooperative mode where players fight waves of alien creatures called Cryptids.
