Suikoden is a Japanese-style role-playing game with several unusual additions. Weltorv Estleia is a non-linear role-playing game set in a medieval fantasy world with its own mythical history and lore. The background story involves a battle between seven legendary warriors, led by the young magician Ten, against an evil dragon. The player assumes the role of a nameless adventurer, male or female, who ventures to the city of Farbell. There, he or she is instructed to join the the Adventurers Guild, and eventually becomes involved in the grand struggle against dark forces threatening Estleia.
Falcata was one of the first games released on Playstation in Japan, and for sure it was a strange one, the game is a mix between an strategy board game and a RPG game. In the game screen, the game draws a line connecting some different circles on a map, given a genuine and bizarre sense of atmosphere. The game features 6 different parties that can be customized in their clothes and hair, all of them with their own stats. The gameplay is about going around those places and examine them, in some of them you will have to fight and then the game takes the usual rpg style with turns to choose the proper actions that the player wants his characters to do. But instead of fights he can also pay to avoid the fights, make pacts or discover relics, etc.
Fire Emblem Fates is split into three story paths. Birthright is one of the two base stories, the other being Conquest. The other story path can be bought digitally at a discount through the in-game store. The third story path is Revelation, a DLC that was released later. You need to be have completed Chapter 6 in either game to access the other stories and DLC. Birthright is the easier path as it has the ability to use scouting missions to grind experience and money and simpler mission objectives.
Klonoa: Door to Phantomile is a side-scrolling platform game viewed from a "2.5D" perspective. The player moves the protagonist, Klonoa, along a path in a two-dimensional fashion, but the game is rendered in three dimensions. This allows the path followed to curve and for the player to interact with objects outside of the path.
